What Are Runes

Runes are a very old and powerful magical tool.

Runes are letters/symbols from the runic alphabets used in language by the Norse, Anglo-Saxons, and other early Germanic tribes around the 2nd to the 8th centuries CE. It pre-dates the Tarot by 1000 years.

The symbols are more than just letters; many runes have symbolic and magical significance, often representing both a sound and an idea or concept. The Elder Futhark is the oldest form of the runic alphabet. It consists of 24 runes

Runes were not only used for writing but were also believed to have magical properties. Each rune is thought to carry its own spiritual power, and they were often carved into objects for protection, blessing, or to invoke specific outcomes.

A Rune Casting

One of the most famous uses of runes for divination is the rune casting.

The rune symbols are carved into small pieces of wood. During a reading, three pieces are pulled and thrown (cast) onto a white cloth.
